Bamboo grows in a large amount in Ghana. After harvesting, the tubes are dried for several months; afterwards, the best-looking tubes are selected to build the frames.
Precise symmetry is accomplished while assembling the frame by using a German-developed clamping device (jig). The bamboo tubes are carefully joined with hemp fibers and bio-epoxy resin, then smoothed down and perfected. Every frame is carefully inspected with an extensive checklist.
Our bamboo frames are tested by a German testing institute to comply with European standards. Furthermore, a high-grade varnish - as protection against wind and inclement weather - is applied to the frames by a qualified specialist in Germany.
All bamboo bikes are professionally mounted with high quality and reliable components at our factory in Kiel, Germany. The final assembly of each bike is done by trained bicycle mechanics.
We build our frames together with our partner, the “Yonso Project”, a nonprofit organization in Ghana. All proceeds made in Ghana go directly into educational scholarships and microloans.
Currently, more than 30 employees work for the project and receive fair payment; their jobs are permanent and give them a sense of perspective.
